Dr. Abbas Mirfattah received his MSc and Ph.D. in Earthquake Engineering from EUCENTRE/ROSE School, Italy in 2013. He has been involved in a multi-national European project called REAKT that aims to assess seismic risk in critical European infrastructures. Advanced seismic analysis and soil-structure interaction have been the core of his research work.
Abbas also has more than 18 years of work experience as a structural consulting engineer. He has been using advanced software such as FLAC, CSI, and SEISMOSOFTproducts as the main tools for seismic assessment and design. Abbas was seconded to Nepal by the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (MFAT) as part of the post-earthquake expert team after the devastating Gorkhah earthquake in 2015. He is very passionate about presenting technical courses.
